This compliation includes the discussion papers on the seminar presentations, a background paper by UNCTAD on Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) and Investment Chapters of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), analyzing trends, approaches to key and emerging issues, and interaction and coherence among international investment agreements, participants shared insights and experiences of member economies and international institutions on the development of BITs or the Investment Chapters of FTAs, with a particular focus on "new generation" (or "high-level") investment agreements.
