Pharmacovigilance (PV) is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as science and activities related to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug-related problems. It plays a key role in ensuring that appropriate patients receive medical products that are safe in the context of the benefits these products provide. The Pharmacovigilance PWA promotes convergent evolution of pharmacovigilance (PV) activities among APEC economies that will support harmonized and pragmatic regulatory requirements in Pharmacovigilance by 2020.
