Food safety is an issue of great concern to APEC economies. Member economies are constantly adjusting and improving food safety requirements. It is important that they do this transparently so that food industries can maintain up to date and accurate knowledge to allow them to know and comply with food safety requirements. China proposed the project ”Improving Transparency and Knowledge of Safety Requirements for Trade of Food in the APEC Region (SCSC 03 2021T)”, which was co-sponsored by Chile; Malaysia; New Zealand; the Philippines; Singapore; and the United States. The project report consists of 3 components: Best practice cases on how economies assist the industries to gain access to and deepen understanding on food safety requirements of trade partners and those of their own; key issues and challenges that member economies face; methods and approaches on how economies assist the industries to gain access to and deepen understanding on food safety requirements.
