Description
The project aimed to facilitate greater regional cooperation on cancer control and foster stronger, more effective cancer control policy programs in APEC member economies through engagement with expert participants. It comprised a workshop with four thematic sessions on cancer prevention; screening and early detection; cancer treatment and management; and implementation, governance, and evaluation of cancer control programs that were held from September 2021 through January 2022.
The report documents perspectives and best practices from the workshop with the goal of developing, enhancing, and strengthening cancer control policy programs in the Asia-Pacific. It provides an overview of cancer burden and challenges in APEC and the role of national cancer control programs, and examines in detail the various substantive pillars of cancer control programs, providing recommendations and best practices.
