Extended: APEC Economic Leaders’ Week Media Registration

Media registration has been extended until 10 November for the 2018 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, to be held from 12-18 November in Port Moresby and chaired by Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

THEME & PRIORITIES

Leaders’ Week will bring together the Leaders, Ministers and Senior Officials of the 21 APEC member economies, which account for half of global trade and 60 per cent of world GDP.

Under the theme, “Harnessing Inclusive Opportunities, Embracing the Digital Future,” the focus will be on building common ground on trade to ensure growth, job creation and better quality of life for people in all areas of the Asia-Pacific.

Policy priorities include boosting regional economic integration and connectivity, digitally-driven entrepreneurship and market opportunities for businesses large and small, and an empowered, inclusive, disruption-ready workforce.

Guided by Papua New Guinea Prime Minister O’Neill, Leaders will address emerging trade challenges and the future of cooperation between APEC economies.

APEC Economic Leaders’ Gala Dinner and Cultural Performance, 17 November
Hilton Hotel Port Moresby
Leaders, in traditional host dress, will engage against the backdrop of Papua New Guinea’s cultural richness.

APEC Leaders’ Dialogue with APEC Business Advisory Council, 17 November
APEC Haus
Leaders will convene with representatives of the APEC Business Advisory Council to examine trade policy priorities and recommendations from the private sector.

APEC Leaders’ Dialogue with Pacific Island Leaders, 17 November
APEC Haus
APEC Leaders will meet their counterparts from across the Pacific islands to address regional trade issues.

APEC CEO Summit, 15-17 November
Pacific Explorer Cruise Ship
A dialogue held in conjunction with the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and organized by the private sector featuring a large number of the region’s leaders and top business executives.

APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM), 15 November
International Convention Centre
Papua New Guinea Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Rimbink Pato and Ministers from the region will seek consensus on news ways for advancing next generation trade and growth.

APEC Concluding Senior Officials’ Meeting (CSOM), 12-13 November
International Convention Centre
Led by Ambassador Ivan Pomaleu, 2018 Chair of APEC Senior Officials, the meeting will finalize technical measures for opening up trade for workers and businesses in the digital age.

Key Media Events:
Opening speeches by the meeting chairs, news conferences and family photos for AELM, AMM and CSOM will be open to accredited media.

Parallel briefings, interview opportunities and other media activities will also be available.

INTERNATIONAL MEDIA CENTER (IMC)

The IMC for Leaders’ Week will be operational from 10-18 November 2018 and located at the Taurama Aquatic Centre, Port Moresby—about 6 km from APEC Haus and 6 km from Jacksons International Airport.

A canteen at the IMC will offer complimentary dining to all accredited media and meeting delegates.

TRANSPORT

APEC shuttle bus service to accredited hotels will be available to international media representative on arrival at Jacksons International Airport, Port Moresby. To confirm, please provide your name and flight arrival information to [email protected].
