APEC Government Roundtable on Measures to Secure Trade

Hong Kong, China is hosting an "APEC Government Roundtable on Measures to Secure Trade" on 1-4 June for officials and experts of APEC economies.
The Roundtable will provide a forum of APEC economies to share experiences and best practices on enhanced secured measures relevant to trade and mobility of travelers.
It is anticipated that the Roundtable will allow APEC economies to exchange views and increase participants' understanding on how different facets of measures on secure trade can be implemented in a comprehensive and coordinated manner. It will also provide an opportunity for officials and experts to see the latest technology and know-how of counter-terrorism measures.
The Roundtable will consist of two parts:
  • The "AirPort Security Expo Asia 04" on 1-2 June which includes a Symposium on "Enhancing the effectiveness of Aviation Security- Strategies to meet the challenges" on 1 June and the Maritime Security Seminar on 2 June
  • A two-day presentation and discussion on 3-4 June 2004 on various aspects of measures on secure trade adopted by Hong Kong, including anti-illegal immigration, sea cargo security, anti-terrorist financing and cyber security. An onsite tour will also be arranged to familiarize participants with actual operations at the airport and a container terminal.
12 APEC Member Economies are participating in the Roundtable: Australia, Canada, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United States.
