News Conference: President Ricardo Lagos of Chile
The President of the Republic of Chile and APEC 2004 Chair, Ricardo E. Lagos, will visit the APEC Secretariat in Singapore on May 1.
President Lagos will be meeting with APEC executives and staff to address the APEC 2004 programme and preparations for the series of major events to be chaired by Chile during its year as APEC host.
A news conference will take place following this meeting at the APEC Secretariat building on Saturday, May 1, at 10.30am.
At the news conference President Lagos will outline plans for APEC 2004, discuss the growing links between Chile and economies of the Asia Pacific Region and take questions from the media.
As part of the 2004 APEC Year, Chile will host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November, seven Ministerial Meetings and a number of Senior Officials and Working Group level meetings.
Representatives from accredited news organizations are required to register their attendance for the news conference no later than Friday, April 23.
