The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a unique cooperative, multilateral economic forum that promotes regional economic growth through trade and investment liberalization, facilitation and capacity building.

Based in Singapore, the APEC Secretariat is seeking a highly skilled Media Manager to lead media engagement efforts, manage relationships with journalists and enhance APEC’s visibility through strategic communication initiatives. This role is essential in strengthening APEC’s media presence, ensuring accurate coverage and supporting member economies in their media-related activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Execute media strategies and campaigns that align with APEC’s objectives, ensuring clear and effective messaging.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets and stakeholders to promote accurate and consistent coverage of APEC.
  • Content creation, including writing media releases, advisories, speeches, talking points, fact sheets, op-eds and other media materials.
  • Coordinate press-related events such as press conferences, media briefings and interviews for APEC spokespeople and senior officials.
  • Support APEC member economies in media outreach.
  • Monitoring and analyzing media coverage, offering insights and recommendations.
  • Oversee photography, videography and visual content creation to support media engagement.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate must be from an APEC member economy and must possess the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in journalism, media relations, or corporate communications, preferably in an international or multilateral environment.
  • Strong knowledge of business, economic reporting and multilateral affairs.
  • Proven ability to craft compelling media narratives and handle media inquiries in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing press conferences, media briefings and interviews.
  • Skills in content management systems, video/photo editing and media production tools are an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills with media professionals and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diplomatic environment.
