APEC ensures that goods, services, investment and people move easily across borders. Members facilitate this trade through faster customs procedures at borders; more favorable business climates behind the border; and aligning regulations and standards across the region.

This summary report provides an overview of the APEC project titled "Workshop on Enhancing Prevention and Risk Reduction for Climate Change Adaptation in Vulnerable Communities in the Asia-Pacific Region". The workshop was held in Arequipa, Peru, on 10-11 May 2024, and gathered 68 participants (32 women and 36 men) from 12 APEC economies, including government officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations, international bodies, and academia, that work directly on climate change prevention and risk reduction. The event featured 17 expert presentations that offered valuable insights from diverse international perspectives, which enriched the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices on climate change prevention and risk reduction. This collaborative learning environment helped strengthen participants' capacities to address climate-related risks and foster innovative solutions to protect vulnerable communities. It also provided a crucial platform for enhancing collaboration among APEC economies on environmental governance and climate adaptation.
