This project final report summarizes key messages and recommendations as well as outcomes and participants feedback from the APEC Climate Symposium 2024, focusing on Enhanced ENSO response and preparedness for a sustainable and resilient society in APEC (PPSTI 102 2024A), held in Lima, Peru on 11-13 August 2024.
The Symposium featured a combination of presentations and discussion sessions, designed to enhance the knowledge and understanding of attendees regarding the science and technology behind ENSO and its management in the context of the climate crisis. A comprehensive overview of ENSO and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence was shared. Implications of climate change on ENSO, emphasizing strategies for local and regional communities to better respond to and sustainably manage its impacts were explored. This publication includes successful case studies and recommendations for enhancing the coordination and application of climate services to inform decision-making in response to the climate crisis.
