APEC Workshop on Empowering APEC Resilience City and community for Sustainable Development identified future STI (Science, Technology and Innovation) for DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) approach to tackle challenges and explore collaborative STI solutions through PPP (public private partnership) while fostering a sustainable APEC community.  The workshop conference brought together stakeholders a total of 62 among 17 economies; Canada; Chile; Indonesia; Japan; Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; New Zealand; Papua New Guinea; Peru; the Philippines; Singapore; Chinese Taipei; Thailand; United States; and Viet Nam; from cross-fora government, academia, business leaders joined together  in Incheon to address pressing challenges for exploring practical strategies on STI based DRR through PPP. To open a new chapter for cross-fora collaboration, delegates and experts from EPWG, PPSTI, SMEWG, CTI, FMP, SCSC and EGILAT highlighted three critical key areas for meaningful collaboration:

 

  • Connect Stakeholders on Policy-led Local Driven Solutions for Synergy
  • Innovate STI on DRR through AI for Smart Cities, Smart energy, Quality Infrastructure and Infrastructure Investment
  • Prosper on Resilience Proactive Disaster Preparedness, Quick Response and Recovery
