Description
Non-tariff barriers (NTBs) concerns still seem to be a predominant topic for trade facilitation purposes. Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) as well as sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures are the ones with the highest rate of specific trade concerns (STCs) raised in at the World Trade Organization (WTO). In the APEC region, the situation is similar, as there is an accumulation of unresolved concerns restricting.
In this context, this study represents the result of Peru’s initiative on the progress of the APEC Cross Cutting Principles on Non-Tariff Measures: Study of APEC Economies’ TBT and SPS Specific Trade Concerns. Its general objective is to assess STCs on WTO TBT and SPS issues to determine the number of times complaints related to APEC’s Cross Cutting Principles on NTMs were addressed to member economies.
