Description
In recent years, the transition toward digital and low-carbon operations has played a critical role in helping businesses remain competitive in global value chains and international markets. This is especially true for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the APEC region, as exemplified in the four case studies presented in the subsequent sections. This study investigates how SMEs and organizations from four member economies, namely Malaysia; Chinese Taipei; the United States; and Viet Nam have benefited from implementing digital or green solutions in their daily operations and follows up with a contrastive analysis of the policies that various APEC economies have launched to support green transition in SMEs. Drawing on the green transition experiences of these member economies, the report concludes with recommendations for both SMEs and policy makers with the aim of accelerating SME digitalization and decarbonization in the region.
