FTAAP Capacity Building Workshop on E-commerce Elements in FTAs/RTAs (Phase 2)

This report presents a summary of the FTAAP Capacity Building Workshop on E-commerce Elements in FTAs/RTAs (Phase 2)  held virtually on 8-9 September 2021 as a follow-up to the 2019 workshop. Launched in 2012, the Capacity Building Needs Initiative (CBNI) has contributed to narrowing the gap in FTA negotiating capacities among APEC member economies, which is often considered to be one of the stumbling blocks to achieving the Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP). This workshop was held as one of CBNI workshops. Through this workshop, APEC participants once again gained information and insight into recent trends and main issues in e-commerce negotiations, and learned about member economies’ experiences and lessons from their participation in related e-commerce negotiations.
