APEC Finance Ministers Issue Joint Statement

APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting Hong Kong, China | 21 October 2026

Finance ministers and officials from APEC member economies issued a joint statement following their two-day meeting in Hong Kong, China, calling for stronger economic cooperation to address persistent global imbalances, mounting risks to growth and financial stability.

At the meeting chaired by Lan Fo’an, China’s Minister of Finance, ministers recognized that global rebalancing is in their common interest and agreed to strengthen communication and cooperation.

Against a backdrop of geoeconomic tensions, tighter financing conditions and policy uncertainty, ministers emphasized the importance of credible and flexible fiscal, monetary and financial policy frameworks to manage economic shocks and maintain stability.

The joint statement also outlined four areas of cooperation to strengthen economic resilience and expand opportunities across the Asia-Pacific:

  • Fiscal policy supporting households
  • Digital infrastructure financing
  • Financial access and opportunity for all
  • Young financial talents dialogue

Ministers also endorsed the Policy Statement on Digital Infrastructure Financing Across the Asia-Pacific Region, which sets out voluntary approaches to facilitating investment and bridging financing gaps.
