APEC Food Security Ministers Issue Joint Statement

APEC ministers responsible for food security issued a joint statement upon the conclusion of the 11th APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting in Hangzhou on Monday chaired by Zhang Zhu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China.
The statement reflected consensus outcomes as ministers encourage economies to strengthen rural infrastructure, promote agri-food sector development and improve public services in rural areas.
Supporting innovation within the sector including artificial intelligence and agricultural biotechnology, ministers welcomed the Principles for Strengthening Food Systems Resilience in the APEC Region through Innovation and Digitalization.
Ministers also recognized the key role of fisheries and aquaculture in supporting food security, providing high-quality nutrition, creating jobs for regional communities and increasing supply for fish and aquatic products.
