Media Registration Opens for Thailand’s first APEC Meetings
Media registration for the first 2022 APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM1) and related meetings from 14–25 February is now open.
Over the next 11 days, trade and economic policy officials from the 21 APEC member economies will convene virtually to revitalize economic recovery and advance approaches and actions for a future growth model that is resilient, inclusive, balanced and sustainable.
Under the guiding theme of APEC 2022, "Open. Connect. Balance.", Thailand aims to promote financial inclusion and greater ease of doing business. Priorities also include advancing the safe and seamless resumption of cross-border travel and exploring economic models and practices that address climate change and other environmental challenges.
“All of us recognize that we need to realign our growth structure to be more inclusive and sustainable with a focus on people,” explained APEC Secretariat Executive Director, Dr Rebecca Sta Maria. “Resuming connectivity is high on the agenda this year as we look to reinvigorate tourism and the services sector, facilitating business mobility as well as increasing investment in health security.”
Media registration and opportunities
Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat, Dr Rebecca Sta Maria, and the 2022 Chair of the APEC Senior Officials, Permanent Secretary Thani Thongphakdi, will brief reporters and journalists on the outcomes of the first meetings, as well as key deliverables and priorities for the year.

Members of the media who wish to register for the media conference and have access to the media portal need to send an email to [email protected] and provide the following information:
- Title
- First name and surname
- Email address
- News organization
- Job title
- A photo of your business card or press card; or an email or letter confirming your employment
Approved applicants will receive an email of confirmation with further information to complete your registrations through the APEC 2022 media portal. The deadline for the First APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting and Related Meetings media registration is Sunday, 20 February 2022.
