Description
The project report presents the outcomes of the APEC initiative on strengthening market compliance mechanisms for Self-Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) in textile and textile products across the APEC region. It combines a cross-economy survey, a field compliance study in Indonesia, and a regional workshop to examine how SDoC functions under different regulatory and National Quality Infrastructure contexts. The findings highlight variations in regulatory practices, testing requirements, and surveillance capacity among economies, while demonstrating that SDoC can be reliable when supported by risk-based monitoring, harmonized test methods, and digital traceability. The project also identified the need for stronger regional cooperation, improved surveillance systems, and targeted support for SMEs. Overall, the report provides evidence-based insights and practical recommendations to enhance trust, transparency, and regulatory alignment in SDoC implementation across APEC economies.
