Description

This publication documents the outcomes of the APEC project “Enhancing Quality Infrastructure to Improve Green Material Utilization in Building Structures” implemented under the Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance (SCSC). The project responds to the growing need for sustainable construction practices and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment. It highlights the role of quality infrastructure—standards, testing, accreditation, and certification—as a foundation for strengthening confidence in green building materials and supporting their wider market adoption. Through a three-day workshop and site visits in Bali, Indonesia, the project brought together policymakers, standards bodies, industry representatives, and academics from APEC economies to exchange best practices, explore innovative materials, and discuss alignment with international standards. The publication presents key findings, recommendations, and policy insights to support sustainable construction and regional cooperation.
