Description

This report presents the outcomes of the APEC Women in STEM Symposium 2025, held on 13 August 2025 in Incheon, Korea, jointly hosted by WISET (Korea Foundation for Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology) and the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea. Under the theme “Empowering Women in AI for a Sustainable Future,” the symposium brought together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and emerging talent from APEC member economies. The event highlighted the importance of reducing gender bias in AI, fostering inclusive innovation, and expending women’s leadership in STEM and AI fields. Through keynote speeches and a multi-economy panel discussion, participants exchanged policy approaches, shared best practices, and discussed strategies to strengthen regional cooperation. The symposium strengthened regional dialogue, built new cross-economy networks, and enhanced participants’ capacities to support women in STEM. It concluded with a shared commitment to advancing women’s leadership in STEM and AI as a vital driver of sustainable growth, resilience, and equitable technological development across the APEC region.
