This report is based on the project “APEC Capacity Building Forum on Managing Major Infectious Diseases and Responding to Health Emergencies” which was implemented by the China-Japan Friendship Hospital (CJFH) in 2024. This APEC-funded project was designed to strengthen the capacity on the effective response to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases and the promotion of theoretical research, practical experience and the development of China’s experience and best practices. The three-day forum attracted nearly 200 participants including officials and experts from APEC member economies, experts coming from NMPs, as well as representatives from international organizations such as the WHO representative to China and the head of JICA. Furthermore, as one the project’s outputs, a joint action was developed by the participants and later endorsed by APEC members. Authors of this report are the PO and his team members.
