The APEC region is facing significant global headwinds, with short-term growth forecasts sharply revised downward due to rising policy uncertainties, escalating trade tensions, and shifting global supply chains. External demand is weakening, and the rise in protectionist measures is exacerbating trade vulnerabilities. At the same time, an ageing population and mounting debt are placing considerable pressures on fiscal space, threatening long-term economic stability. These challenges necessitate agile and strategic monetary, fiscal, and trade policies. The pursuit of resilience-enhancing structural reforms amid an increasingly uncertain and fragmented global economy has become more urgent. Deeper regional cooperation will be critical to mitigating risks, strengthening economic resilience, and paving the way for sustained prosperity.
