The objective of the project was to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the aquaculture sector in the APEC region, to map the measures taken by APEC economies to deal with these effects, and to develop policy recommendations and improve policy responses to the lingering effects of the pandemic and future similar shocks, with emphasis on measures for economic recovery and improving the sustainability and resilience of the SSA sector. The report is divided into four main sections covering the following topics: (1) the state of the aquaculture in the APEC region (before and after COVID-19); (2) specific impacts of the pandemic on the aquaculture value chain of APEC economies; (3) actions and recovery measures taken by APEC economies to mitigate such impacts; and (4) short- and long-term recommendations for the improvement of the economic recovery, sustainability, and resilience in the post-pandemic aquaculture sector.
