APEC Ministerial Meeting on Forestry

Forests sustain the Asia-Pacific's economies, ecosystems and livelihoods, and they face growing challenges. Ministers, policymakers and experts are meeting in Shenzhen to align on how the region conserves and manages its forests as roots of our region's economic resilience.
During the meeting, APEC economies will review progress on the Global Forest Goals, share best practices on restoring mangroves and other ecosystems, and drive environmentally friendly urban development through technological innovation and sustainable forest management.
The pressure on the region's forests is real. APEC economies are home to more 60 percent of the world's population, yet forest development remains uneven across the region, straining our forest resources. Illegal logging also continues to threaten legitimate timber markets and forest-dependent businesses and communities.
These discussions will advance APEC’s commitment to ensuring that the region's forests continue to underpin healthy economic growth and resilience across the region.
