This case study is one of the five prepared for the 2016 APEC Economic Policy Report, which had a theme on structural reform. The study documents and assesses the process and impact of structural reform in the retail services sector in China, and the flow on effects into other goods and services sectors and across the entire economy. It also identifies policy implications and a number of potential lessons for other APEC economies.
