On 10-11 July 2019, the APEC Rare Disease Network will partner with Chile as the 2019 APEC host economy to organize an APEC Rare Disease Policy Workshop. Taking place in Santiago, the Policy Workshop will support key government, academic, and industry stakeholders from Chile, Mexico, and Peru as they begin to implement some of the Action Plan’s recommendations while taking into account their local contexts and policy environments. The Policy Workshop will also provide an opportunity to engage with non-APEC, Latin American economies such as Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia to identify common challenges and opportunities for policy action on rare disease.
