Trujillo, Peru, 6 November 2008 Finance Ministers from APEC Economies have outlined coordinated actions to tackle the global financial crisis at the 15th Annual APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting. In a Joint Ministerial Statement, they reaffirm APEC's commitment and progress toward regional economic integration amidst the crisis. To this end, Ministers have committed to strengthen legal, regulatory and institutional mechanisms; fortify capital markets; and broaden and diversify the investor base.

Trujillo, Peru, 6 November 2008 International trade is a defining factor as APEC Economies address the global economic crisis. While the situation affects both developed and emerging economies, the most developed economies do not necessarily fare best. According to the IMF's John Lipsky, an open and integrated emerging economy like Peru is well placed to weather this crisis and sustain high economic growth.

Sichuan, People's Republic of China, 28 September, 2008 Motivated by China's Sichuan earthquake, disaster management authorities from APEC Economies collaborated to produce a set of recommendations for the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November. Drawn from studies of recent natural disasters, these recommendations insist on the need to develop multi-faceted approaches to adequately address the long-term socio-economic challenges that follow large scale disasters.
