Because of the need for transparent, accountable, regulatory, accreditation and quality assurance systems in all economies, governments have a major role in quality assurance, but the precise role and the level of involvement vary between economies and over time. This report on quality assurance systems in Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies is based on a survey conducted by the Australian Universities Quality Agency and funded by the Australia Department of Education, Science and Training.
