Singapore, 28 January, 2008 Despite its illegality, the counterfeiting of medicines is a booming industry in the Asian-Pacific region and around the world. Last week, experts from 17 APEC economies, including 11 developing economies, met in Singapore at the first of two APEC Life Sciences Innovation Forum (LSIF) Anti-Counterfeiting Health Products Seminar to establish systems to counter the spread of the illegal practice. |

Singapore, 24 January, 2008 Globalization should lead to sustainable development for all and this is focal to the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) in 2008. In its first meeting of the year (20 - 23 January, Jakarta, Indonesia) the council, which is made up of senior business leaders, met with APEC Senior Officials to make recommendations on intergovernmental processes. |

Taipei, November 28, 2007 With a view to the creation of an Asia-Pacific pharmaceuticals network, the "2007 Symposium of the APEC Network on Pharmaceutical Regulatory Science" asserts to unite professionals and policy-makers in the regional pharmaceutical industry and to coordinate regulations for a single market. Delegates anticipate that increased levels of cooperation and the removal of market impediments will make pharmaceutical drugs and medicines more accessible to a greater number of people in the region. |
