Ha Noi, Viet Nam, November 27, 2006 Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with APEC to provide AU$4 million to help developing APEC economies bolster their defenses against emerging and infectious diseases such as Avian Influenza. This contribution to the APEC Support Fund will be used for capacity building projects including preparedness planning, surveillance and reporting. |

Ha Noi, Viet Nam, November 19, 2006 In their annual two-day meeting chaired by Viet Nam's President Nguyen Minh Triet, Leaders of 21 APEC economies discussed the theme "Towards One Dynamic Community for Sustainable Development and Prosperity" in two umbrella topics which include advancing trade and investment in a changing world and fundamentals ensuring dynamism, growth, and sustainable development in APEC. |

Ha Noi, November 19, 2006 When APEC Economic Leaders met today in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, they resolved to identify specific actions and milestones to implement the Bogor Goals and support capacity-building measures to help APEC economies meet their commitments to free and open trade and investment. The Ha Noi Action Plan, which was endorsed by APEC Economic Leaders, contains concrete measures to be taken in five key areas, including: 1) support for the multilateral trading system; 2) strengthening individual and collective actions by member economies; 3) promotion of high-quality Regional Trade Arrangements (RTAs) and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs); 4) the Busan Business Agenda and 5) economic and technical cooperation. |

Ha Noi, Viet Nam, November 18, 2006 China has announced that it will make a US$2 million donation to the APEC Support Fund (ASF) to strengthen APEC's capacity building initiatives. The funding was announced by President Hu Jintao of the People's Republic of China at the 14th APEC Economic Leader's Meeting in Ha Noi. |
