APEC Senior Officials' Meeting II (SOMII) and Related Meetings, Jeju, Korea, 21-31 May 2005
At their second meeting for 2005, Senior Officials will continue to focus on the priorities for 2005 and consider the outcomes of two key events - the Symposium on a Mid-term Stocktaking of Progress towards the Bogor Goals and the SOM Policy Dialogue on Free Trade Agreements and Regional Trade Agreements.

Senior Officials guide the activities of APEC's Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces. Senior Officials develop recommendations for APEC Ministers and APEC Economic Leaders. Senior Officials' Meetings are held four times a year with the chair from the host economy.

The Sixth APEC Ministerial Meeting on Telecommunications and Information Industry, Lima, Peru, 29 May - 3 June 2005
The theme for the Sixth APEC Ministerial Meeting on Telecommunications and Information (TELMIN6) is "Enabling Digital Opportunities: harnessing infrastructures to advance the Information Society". The meeting will include discussions on:
  • Advancing information and communications infrastructures,
  • Enabling digital opportunities through effective policy and regulation,
  • Strengthening prosperity through information communications and network security
  • Advancing the information society through human capacity ?building, and
  • Catalyzing opportunities through APEC TEL.
The meeting is expected to reaffirm the commitment to the five objectives and ten core principles in the Seoul Declaration endorsed at TELMIN1 (1995) as essential for the construction and the expansion of the Asia Pacific Information Infrastructure (APII) and the realization of the vision of the Asia Pacific Information Society (APIS). It is expected that Ministers adopt the Program of Action for the APEC TEL and also the APEC Key Principles for Broadband Development and encourage their implementation by APEC member economies.

APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting, Jeju, Korea, 2-3 June 2005
With a view to advancing freer trade and supporting the WTO/DDA, Ministers Responsible for Trade will reaffirm the importance of the 6th WTO Ministerial Conference, and adopt the MRT Statement on APEC's Contribution to the Conference.

The meeting is expected to review the progress report on the Mid-term Stocktake(MTST) presented by Senior Officials, which would comprise an assessment of APEC's progress towards the Bogor Goals. The final report on MTST would be brought to the 17th APEC Ministerial Meeting(AMM) so that Ministers may report to Leaders on the final outcomes.
