Budget and Management Committee Committee on Trade and Investment Economic Committee SOM Steering Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation Other APEC Groups and Initiatives		You Are Here: Home > APEC Groups > Non-Ferrous Metal Dialogue (Disbanded APEC fora)     A Non-Ferrous Metals Dialogue (NFMD), one of the APEC Government-Business Dialogues, was initiated by the Russian Federation in 2003 with the primary goal of bringing together public and private sector representatives to promote cooperation and interaction in the area of trade-related regulatory policy and facilitating non-ferrous metals trade, competitiveness and sustainable development of the industry in the Asia-Pacific region. The Dialogue aims to discuss and identify the priorities relevant to fostering industry trade and development through the enhancement of the flow of information and sharing of best practices in using domestic and international regulatory mechanisms. Achievements After establishing a Friends of the Chair Group in 2005, the 2nd meeting of the Non-Ferrous Metals Dialogue (NFMD) was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam on 22-23 May 2006. The meeting resulted in a clear cut definition of non-ferrous metals and the adoption of the Collective Action Plan (CAP) for 2006 and beyond. The CAP focused on the formation of a network of Non-Ferrous Metals industries and further development of the matrix of Non-Ferrous Metals business recommendations. Current Activities A business seminar will be organized prior to the next NFMD meeting to provide an opportunity for industry representatives to have greater interaction with government officials on NFMD issues.
