At each year's APEC Ministerial Meeting, the Ministers define and fund work programmes for APEC's Committees, Working Groups, and SOM Special Task Groups. The directions provided by APEC Economic Leaders are captured in action-oriented work programmes to support APEC's goals.
Committees APEC's four committees meet regularly throughout the year and comprise representatives from each APEC Member Economy:
Budget and Management Committee The Budget and Management Committee (BMC) advises the Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) on budgetary, administrative and managerial issues. It also monitors and evaluates project management aspects of the operations of Committees and Working Groups and makes recommendations to SOM for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
Committee on Trade and Investment The Committee on Trade and Investment (CTI) coordinates APEC's work on trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation.
Economic Committee The Economic Committee (EC) conducts research on economic trends and issues in the APEC region in support of APEC's trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation and economic and technical cooperation agendas. It also has a mandate to promote structural reform by undertaking policy analysis and action-oriented work. The EC serves as a forum for members to exchange information and views on economic trends and issues.
SOM Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation The SOM Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation (ESC) assists APEC Senior Officials in coordinating and managing APEC's economic and technical cooperation agenda, as well as identifying initiatives for cooperative action by APEC Member Economies.
