The winners of the 2016 APEC Photo Contest were announced on Tuesday by APEC 2016 Senior Officials’ Chair Luis Quesada at the Concluding Senior Officials’ Meeting in Lima.

On its sixth year, the contest sought the public’s interpretation of APEC’s work that helps bring more opportunities for growth by way of increased participation in global value chains, more secure food sources and an empowered regional workforce.

First prize was awarded to Danilo O. Victoriano from The Philippines for his photo called “Going Global.”

After passing through a rigorous screening process of screening more than 600 photo entries, second prize was awarded to Truong Huu Hung from Viet Nam for his photo “Exposure Snapper.”  This is the third year in a row that Truong Huu Hung won second prize in the APEC Photo Contest.

Third prize was awarded to Dhiky Aditya from Indonesia for a photo entitled “Drying Clothes.”

The Popular Choice Award was won by Jerry Lee from The Philippines after the photo, “Harvest time,” attracted the most likes on APEC’s Facebook page.

By entering the APEC Photo Contest, participants sought to interpret the following priority areas being addressed by the 21 APEC member economies in 2016: a) developing human capital, b) modernizing micro, small and medium enterprises, c) enhancing the regional food market; d) advancing regional economic integration.

Through the photo contest, APEC created an avenue for the public to express its perceptions of  APEC’s work and priorities that affect and influence their daily lives.

The judging panel consisted of world renowned photojournalists, industry experts and senior public officials including Agence France-Presse Photographer Eric Baradat, APEC Executive Director Alan Bollard, award-winning photographer Palani Mohan and Chair of APEC 2016 Senior Officials, Ambassador Luis Quesada.
