A meeting of Asia-Pacific government anti-corruption experts will discuss an 'APEC Course of Action' for fighting both government and corporate corruption when it meets in Santiago, Chile, on September 25-26.
The Course of Action will outline specific domestic measures to combat corruption and promote transparency by implementing transparency standards in APEC Member Economies.
Key topics for discussion at the meeting will be the development of public-private sector partnerships, measures for facilitating the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. Issues will include the enforcement of new anti-corruption measures, including the denial of safe haven to corrupt officials, to those who corrupt them, and their assets.
To be inaugurated by the Chilean Minister of Justice, Hon. Luis Bates, the 'APEC Meeting of Government Anti-Corruption Experts' will be jointly co-chaired by Chile as the host of APEC 2004, together with Korea and the United States.

Delegates to the APEC Meeting of Government Anti-Corruption Experts will include high level officials engaged in anti-corruption, law enforcement and public integrity.
The meeting will also be attended by representatives of the United Nations, the OECD, the Asian Development Bank, the Organization of American States and the APEC Business Advisory Council.
The APEC Meeting of Government Anti-Corruption Experts will take place at the Santiago Convention Centre, Espacio Riesco on September 25-26.
