2011 Deliverables

We held two High-Level Policy Dialogues, which brought together officials from across the region with private sector and civil society representatives for rich discussions on improving coordination on Disaster Resiliency as well as Open Governance for Economic Growth

In response to a 2010 directive by APEC Leaders, we endorsed the APEC Counter-Terrorism and Secure Trade Strategy to better protect regional supply chains, travel, financial systems, and critical infrastructure, without compromising the flow of legitimate commerce.

Senior Officials endorsed the launch of the APEC Travel Facilitation Initiative to make travel in the Asia-Pacific region more efficient, more secure, and less stressful.

We agreed to reduce energy intensity in our economies by 45 percent by 2035, establish a voluntary reporting mechanism for reducing or eliminating inefficient fossil fuel subsidies, and take up work on Low Emission Development Strategies.

We are working to make it easier, faster, and cheaper to do business in the region, showing good progress toward 5% interim improvement target by end of this year.

All 21 APEC members identified priorities for structural reform that will remove behind the border barriers and promote higher quality, more inclusive growth.

APEC economies recognize the important role that open and transparent markets for food trade play in ensuring global food security.  We supported capacity building efforts to assess and improve agricultural data collection so that policy makers have the most accurate information from which to make decisions.  We established the APEC Policy Partnership on Food Security which substantively incorporates the private sector so that our food security efforts benefit from receiving direct input from companies on the frontlines of trading and investing in the region.  We reached agreement to extend the standstill until 2013 as it pertains to export restrictions or other WTO-inconsistent trade measures on food which will increase reliability of supply and mitigate price volatility.
